Reflection: Week 6

Week 6 Monday 26 to Friday 30 This week was more of a relaxed working week. But it started off the same with a Stage 2 Meeting about what was on offer this week. Because this was meet to be the week we were meet to be travelling around and visiting multiple design houses, instead the design houses had very kindly film videos of their offices and had done interviews with some of their employees, talking about their designs house and what they love to do. It was an amazing opportunity to hear from all these talents design houses and gain even more insight in the world of design.  I also spent the week photographing my publication and putting together all the work I have done for this module. It was a fun but stressful experience! But I was very happy to have a physical outcome from this module, and it also helped me build my confidence in creating a physical book.

Week 5 Mon 19 On the final week for this module and the publication is due for exhibition on Friday. We had a brief Stage 2 Meeting just to go over what we should be focusing on this week and what to expect for next week. I went into the studio for the rest of the day so I could start doing test prints on potential paper for the publication. Tues 20 Went into studio for another full day of work. I managed to get a black and white test print done and had perfect bound it last night. I was really happy with the print quality and how the size of the publication felt in my hands. Wed 21 Because I was very happy with the practice publication print yesterday, today I went straight into getting proper one printed and cut. I was very thankful that I had bought a book binding kit prior to this project because it made binding my publication so much easier. Thurs 22 Another early morning sunrise sea swim before textworks. This weeks lecture was on persuasion and focused mostly on Aristotle'

Week 4 Mon 12 The Stage 2 Meeting this week was about us getting on with our main publication brief and to use all the things we had learned in the past workshops. I started from the basics and started to look for potential typography and also explore a variety of different colour palettes that could be used for the publication. Tues 13 Today I had a group learning teams with Kate where we discussed about how were were finding the brief and at what point we're at for the development of our publications. It was interesting to see where everyone else was at this stage as well as gathering more useful tips from Kate for publication mockups and creating flatplans. Wed 14 Worked mostly in the studio today to get ahead of all the stuff Kate mentioned to us in the learning teams. I focused mostly on getting my flatplan started for my publication. Thurs 15 The lecture this week was on Motivation with the topics of ideology and happiness coming into plan. Learning about the origins of motiv

Week 3 Mon 5 Had the Stage 2 Meeting this morning with Kate and Matt. We went over the 'I Rosebush' submissions from last week and it was great to see all the other versions. Mine got featured and had some interesting things said about it which was funny and insightful. Tues 6 The workshop today was on readability and exploring how to present a spread in different ways. We were able to learn about using a reduced colour palette as well as only using the article text to cover the spread. It made me step out of my comfort zone because I like to use images within my work  Wed 7 I had a learning teams meeting today, where we all met all Kate and spoke about how we were feeling about the current brief. Additionally we were given some tips on how to work on our page layouts e.g. find a magazine and copy one of the spreads so you can understand and slowly form natural ways of article arrangement. Thurs 8 The textworks lecture was on consumerism and postmodernity which could be see
